Changes to WFH and Mask Requirements

Updated: Mar 3, 2022

End of the Mask Mandate

The legal requirement to wear a face covering in indoor public spaces shall be revoked with effect from tomorrow.

Government guidance remains in place to the effect that people should continue to wear a face covering “in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet.” This would not normally extend to workplaces but it might do so in some circumstances, particularly where employees cannot reasonably socially distance. It will remain a matter for each employer to carry out their own individual risk assessments.

Homeworking

The government guidance relating to homeworking was repealed effect from last Thursday. The last 22 months has however accelerated a change in working practices for many office based workers such that homeworking is likely to remain with us in the long-term. To assist, we have homeworking policies, both for temporary and more permanent arrangements, which can be accessed via our HR zone on our web-site.

If staff wish to make a permanent change then they should do so under the terms of your flexible working policy. The right for an employee to make a flexible working request is a statutory right and requests can only be refused for certain reasons. A flexible working policy is also available via our web-site.

Please give us a call should you have any questions in relation to any of the above issues.
